Whatever the cause, the goal is the same: a patch that's sanded, primed, and finished so it disappears into the wall instead of standing out as an obvious repair.
For small holes and cracks, most jobs are a single visit — patch, dry, sand, and prime or paint to match. Larger areas (water damage, a section that needs new drywall cut in, or damage across a wider span) may take a bit more time to do right, especially if texture-matching is involved. Either way, you'll get a straight estimate before work starts, not a surprise invoice after.
